Jewellery for women gift guide

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Jewellery can really change everything. I love and appreciate all styles of jewellery. It's so nice that you can decide to be playful and eccentric one day and understated and luxe another. In this gift guide, I selected something that could fit all different age groups and styles and I hope you will love them as much as I do.

Tag me over on Instagram, @small_business_collaborative, if you decide to pick up anything from any of these wonderful small businesses.

Unveiling Pearls Jewellery

Unveiling Pearls Jewellery creates bold and bright statement jewellery to empower women to be bold and step out in the face of uncertainty.

All pieces are handmade in the UK and there is a meaning behind every piece.

What I love: That it's not just about the jewellery but that Pamela also works with young women to empower them to embrace their uniqueness.

Fun fact: We don’t just design and create jewellery. We also run workshops to inspire young women to discover their self-image, know who they are, their values and to embrace their uniqueness.

Price range: £12-75

One n One

One concept store, two passions: fashion n pizza. A selection of sustainable fashion brands, our own handmade clothing collection coming end of November, our exclusive collection of products created by small brands (launching soon).

Everything surrounded by sourdough pizzas: gifting an experience is amazing that's why we created gift cards for our dining experience and "how to make sourdough pizza".

We support small brands, sustainable fashion, handmade, small productions, uniqueness. In both fashion n food.

What I love: I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Martina and Andrea last year when I interviewed them on my podcast, Let's Talk Shop. They are both so passionate about what they do and I love that. Martina and I studied at the same university in Milan but at different times.

Fun fact: We just collaborated with Luneta (@lunetacreations) on a jewellery collection using vintage beads.

Price range: £20-180

Bluebell Lane Jewellery

Bluebell Lane Jewellery is a sustainable jewellery brand. Focusing on texture and shape, and how each piece interacts with the light and space around them, Ruth creates each piece of jewellery using Recycled Sterling Silver. She also welcomes commissions and loves working with customers to design special one-off pieces.

Made in the UK, Handmade, Sustainable, Eco Friendly, Female Owned Business,

What I love: Ruth (in the middle photo) creates beautiful and simple pieces and I love the details and that she uses recycled sterling silver.

Fun fact: After dreaming about being a full-time jeweller for a few years now, at the beginning of lockdown 1, I was forced to become one!

I had to stop doing my other part-time work, and although that meant taking a scary leap without a supporting bank balance, I'm so glad I had to!

By having the extra couple of days to work on my business, I have been able to grow it, and I finally have time to write my weekly newsletter which I have wanted to do for ages!

If you want to find out a bit more about what goes on behind the scenes at Bluebell Lane, and fancy a bit of light Sunday morning reading then head to my website to subscribe!

Price range: £25-155

Cloud + Clay

Cloud + Clay create statement polymer clay jewellery, which is all designed and handcrafted in Staffordshire. All pieces are designed, shaped and finished by the same two hands! Polymer clay is an extremely lightweight material but unlike ceramic or porcelain it doesn’t shatter when dropped (making it perfect for jewellery!)

What I love: I love Lucy's pieces, they are so cute and wearable. At the moment I particularly fancy the red and pink Eve earings.

Fun fact: All colours are individually mixed by hand, so no two pieces are the same!

Price range: £4.50-16

Arnelle Worker

A collection of beautifully illustrated paper goods and gifts, celebrating the female form and all things pattern!

All Arnelle's products are made within the UK by lovely people that she trust when it comes to quality.

Her greeting cards and gift wrap are plastic-free! And printed on FSC approved paper. Art prints are printed on giclee archival paper that won't fade and gives your print a lovely tonal finish.

Her recent fine jewellery pieces are handmade from solid silver by the lovely Laura Kinley from Kinley Handmade Jewellery.

What I love: The shapes of Arnelle's women are so beautiful. It's incredible to me how a few seemingly simple lines can form something so pretty and intricate. I did not know I liked brooches until I saw these.

Fun fact: All products are designed and illustrated by myself, using a mixture of hand-drawn and digital assets. I love carrying a journal with me to jot down or doodle any ideas that come to me - and then to see how they evolve into the final product. That is always so satisfying!

Bybri Jewellery

Bybrí is the jewellery brand created by Irish designer Bríanan McCloskey. She has been living in London for the past eight years and makes her pieces in Leyton, East London where she lives.

Brí has worked with metals and resins for the past seven years, and in early 2017 set up her own business Bybrí Jewellery.

All of her jewellery has been made by hand, and although the aesthetic is clean and contemporary, it is the handmade quality and feel that is integral to the brand. Using mainly gold, sterling silver, and colourful semi-precious stones and acrylics, Brí focuses on creating playful, striking and affordable pieces for everyone to wear.

Everything is handmade by Bri, and its the contrast between this and the clean-cut simple shapes she uses that make her products unique.

What I love: I love the clean shapes in metal with the contrasting softness of the acrylic colours Bri uses in her jewellery.

Fun fact: I've just quit the day job to go full time with my jewellery business!!

Oyl'e London

Lina Wil is a contemporary jewellery and homeware brand, run by its founder, German-born designer Lina Wilckens, from her studio in Glasgow's vibrant West End. Lina Wil's understated designs merge sustainable materials and traditional processes with innovative digital sculpting techniques, creating modern luxury pieces that elevate the everyday. All items are thoughtfully handmade in Lina's Glasgow studio.

Designed and handmade in my Glasgow studio, sustainable processes and 100% reclaimed metals, a merge of traditional materials and techniques and digital sculpting and processes. All items and packaging are completely plastic-free.

What I love: I love all of Lina's pieces, the clean lines and aesthetic have clear Scandi influences which I am very drawn too. Reminds me of home and I love how each piece is made to be loved for a long time.

Fun fact: Lina Wil is all about making pieces that people will love for a long time. All of my designs, therefore, unite influences from the three countries I've lived in: an organic, flowing aesthetic inspired by my years in Stockholm, a bit of German no-nonsense attitude with ease of wearability and usability at the centre, and a tad of Glasgwegian individualism.
