I’m Therese, host of Let’s Talk Shop, the podcast for product-based business owners who want to grow their wholesale with confidence and consistency.

In this episode, I spoke with Anne-Claire Morel, International Marketing Manager at Faire, the online wholesale marketplace connecting independent brands and retailers around the world. Faire has access to huge amounts of live data from thousands of shops and brands, which gives them a unique view of what’s actually happening in the market.

This chat is all about what’s trending right now, what retailers are searching for ahead of Christmas, and how you can use these insights to help your products get discovered by more buyers.

Why Faire’s data is so valuable for small brands

Faire can see what buyers are searching for, saving, adding to baskets and, most importantly, what they’re actually buying. They also look at cultural and seasonal signals to spot trends early, then publish these insights in the free Faire Forecast, which you can download here.

As Anne-Claire explained, they don’t just look at what’s popular right now. They track how buyer behaviour is shifting across different regions and categories so that brands can plan ahead and make confident decisions.

What counts as a trend on Faire

On Faire, a trend isn’t just a feeling or a vibe. It’s based on a mix of real data points, including:

  • How often a term is searched

  • How many times a product is added to baskets

  • When seasonal searches start to spike

  • How patterns vary across regions

By combining all of this, Faire can see which products are gaining momentum and which ones are actually converting into sales.

2025 Christmas trend snapshot

The big story this year is a return to tradition. Christmas is feeling nostalgic, cosy, and full of warmth again.

  • Searches for “Tartan” are up 28% year-on-year

  • Searches for “Vintage Christmas” are up 21% year-on-year

  • “Nutcracker” is searched 2.5x more than “Snowman”

Think old-school festive charm with rich reds and greens, lots of texture, and that classic Hollywood Christmas feeling.

How to use this trend:

  • Update your product listings with relevant terms like vintage Christmas, tartan, and nutcracker

  • Add one traditional lifestyle image to your product gallery

  • Create a “Classic Christmas” section in your catalogue or Faire shop

Colours and categories buyers are loving

Colours:

Buyers tend to search by product first and then refine by colour, but having the right palette still helps you stand out. Right now, deep greens, burgundy tones, and soft warm neutrals are performing well.

Categories:

  • Ceramic tealight or gingerbread houses

  • Lambswool tartan throws and winter textiles

  • Christmas candles and holders with a vintage twist

Action tip: Offer at least three colour options for your Christmas products and make sure every one has clear, consistent photography.

The rise of the “little treats” trend

One of my favourite insights from this episode is the rise of “Little Treats.”

UK shoppers are spending around £20 a week on an average of five little treats – small, joyful purchases that feel indulgent but affordable. These mini luxuries are driving consistent sales across home, stationery, beauty, and gifting categories.

How brands can use it:

  • Create mini versions of bestsellers that work as till-side treats

  • Offer try-me kits or small gift bundles

  • Think about advent calendars or countdown sets that include mini products

  • Price these at key impulse levels like £8, £12, £15, and £20

How retailers can use it:

  • Dedicate a “Little Treats” section near the counter

  • Mix categories to create a discovery moment for customers

  • Rotate products often to keep things fresh

How to get discovered on Faire

Once you know what’s trending, the next step is making sure buyers can actually find your products on Faire.

If buyers can’t find you, they can’t buy from you. That’s why your keywords matter so much.

Here’s a simple seasonal keyword system you can set up:

  1. Create a spreadsheet with a tab for each buying occasion: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Spring, Summer, Back to School, and Christmas.

  2. Under each one, list 10–20 keywords that suit your products.

    • For Christmas, think vintage Christmas, stocking filler, tartan, gingerbread house, winter candle, advent calendar, festive gift set.

  3. Update your product titles and descriptions around 8–12 weeks before each season.

  4. Create collections in your Faire backend such as “Little Treats under £20” or “Vintage Christmas” and share these directly with buyers.

This makes it easier for retailers to find your products when they’re searching, which ultimately means more visibility – and more sales.

Filters buyers actually use on Faire

Two filters come up again and again when buyers search for products:

Top Shop

The Top Shop filter highlights brands that consistently upload new products, have great customer service, and strong imagery.

To qualify, make sure every listing has at least four high-quality photos, that you ship quickly, and that you’re adding newness regularly.

It’s one of the easiest ways to stand out because buyers know they can trust those brands.

Low Minimum Order

The Low Minimum filter is also popular because it lets buyers test new products without too much risk.

  • Anything under £100 is considered competitive

  • You can offer a lower first order minimum and a higher reorder minimum later

  • Some brands test a £0 minimum for the first three months to attract new stockists

Category matters too. Greeting card brands will naturally need a lower minimum than someone selling textiles or ceramics

Using Faire Direct and retailer offers to boost orders

If you’re new to Faire, there’s a great offer right now.

Retailers: Get 50% off your first order (up to £100) when you sign up. It’s an easy way to try new brands without taking on too much risk.

Brands: Open your Faire shop here to start selling to more stockists. You’ll be able to manage your wholesale listings, set up seasonal collections, and access built-in marketing tools to reach more retailers.

Faire also offers Net 60 credit terms, which give retailers extra breathing room during busy buying seasons – one of the many reasons small shops now prefer ordering through Faire.

A quick checklist to action this week

  • Add Christmas keywords to your listings

  • Create two seasonal collections: Vintage Christmas and Little Treats under £20

  • Upload clear photos for every colourway

  • Offer a lower first order minimum to attract new buyers

  • Try a mini kit or small bundle version of your bestsellers

  • Email buyers about your new festive collections

  • Check your fulfilment process and response times to work towards Top Shop status
