If you’ve been putting effort into wholesale outreach but not getting the responses you hoped for, don’t panic. You’re not alone, and it doesn’t mean your products aren’t good enough or that wholesale isn’t right for your business.
Sometimes, it’s just about shifting the way you approach your pitch.
One of the most common mistakes I see is making the pitch all about your product - how much you love it, the story behind it, the care and detail that goes into making it. All of that matters… but it’s not always what helps a retail buyer say yes.
Let’s look at what does.

Think Like a Retail Buyer
Retail buyers are busy. They’ve got shelves to fill, sales targets to meet, and a million other pitches sitting in their inbox. When they’re skimming your email, they’re not just asking, “Do I like this brand?” They’re asking:
Will this sell in my shop?
Do the margins work for me?
Is it easy to order and restock?
Will this add something new to my current mix?
So, if your pitch is all about you, there’s a good chance they’ll move on - even if they like what you’re selling.
Do a Quick Pitch Check
Here’s a really simple action step you can take today: go back and look at your last five wholesale emails.
Ask yourself:
Did I explain why my products are a good fit for their customers?
Did I clearly show pricing, margin, and bestsellers so they don’t have to dig for info?
Did I give them a reason to act now - like a limited-time offer, low minimum order, or upcoming seasonal fit?
If your answers are mostly “no” or “sort of,” that’s okay! This is such a common learning curve, and the good news is, you can shift your focus and improve your results straight away.
